The Chairman’s Trophy
This BCHMR permanent trophy is awarded to the driver/team that made the most outstanding appearance at the event taking into account Canadian racing history and spirited performance.
The 2015 winner is Collin Jackson with his 1973 Brabham BT40.
The Abbotsford Trophy
This BCHMR permanent trophy was awarded this year to the outright winner of the Formula Vee section of the combined Formula Ford – Formula Vee, Hagerty Formula Festival race.
The 2015 winner is Paul Higgins, 1995 Protoform.
The Westwood Trophy
This BCHMR permanent trophy was awarded this year to the outright winner of the Formula Ford section of the combined Formula Ford – Formula Vee, Hagerty Formula Festival race.
The 2015 winner is Alan McColl, 1977 Tiga.
The SCCBC Trophy
This BCHMR permanent trophy was awarded to the driver judged to have delivered the most spirited performance in the combined Vintage Closed Wheel groups.
The 2015 winner is Doug Yip, 1967 Sunbeam Tiger Mk 2. This was the final on-track appearance for this car and true to form, Doug took it to the chequered flag more than once during the weekend.
The Pete Lovely Memorial Award
This BCHMR permanent trophy was awarded this year to the driver judged to have delivered the most spirited performance in the performance of Vintage Exhibition Group of purpose – built racing cars.
The 2015 winner is Collin Jackson with his beautifully restored 1973 Brabham BT40. This car was formerly owned and raced by Al Lader and then the late Ron Householder. Collin was a teenage crew member for Ron during the second half of the 1970’s and worked on this very car. The car was stored from 1979 until 2012 and then underwent a thorough multi-year restoration.
The Battered Cup
This BCHMR permanent trophy is ‘awarded’ annually to the competitor who has had the ‘most battering experience’ of the event.
The 2015 winner is Dennis Repel, 1974 Chevrolet Camaro – the ‘Heavy Chevy”.
The SOVREN Canada Cup
SOVREN (Society of Vintage Racing Enthusiasts) is a long time friend of the VRCBC with members regularly attending each other’s race events. This new annual award was added this year to recognize the most significant US – based SOVREN entry at the BCHMR.
The 2015 winner is Martin Rudow. Martin is currently a SOVREN vice president, the long time publisher of the excellent Vintage Drift periodical, the author of several books about racing in the Pacific North West, and has always been a big promoter of the relationship between the two clubs.
The Mike Ores Award
This one-time award was created for the 2015 BCHMR by Alan McColl. It was presented to Al Ores, Mike’s father, in recognition of his almost 50 years of racing in the local area, his contribution to the growth of motor racing, and for his very generous encouragement and help to countless other racers over many years.
